Which manufacturers actually allow license transfers?

Accepted Answer

Many do, including Plugin Alliance, Brainworx, Acustica Audio, Soundtoys, Eventide, u-he, PSP, Pulsar Audio, Sonnox, Voxengo, Tone2 and others. iLok-licensed products from PACE-registered manufacturers are also transferable, with a per-license iLok fee paid to PACE. How long does a transfer usually take?

Most transfers complete within 24 to 72 hours. iLok and Plugin Alliance account-to-account transfers can be near instant once the seller initiates them. Transfers that require a manufacturer support ticket can take several business days, depending on the manufacturer's response time.

Question 3

What happens to my money if the seller disappears?

Accepted Answer

Buyer funds are held by PluginXchange, not paid directly to the seller. If the seller does not initiate the transfer within the listing's stated window, you can open a dispute and request a refund. Until you confirm receipt of the license, the money never leaves escrow.

Question 4

What if the manufacturer revokes the license after I receive it?

Accepted Answer

If a license is revoked because the seller misrepresented ownership or the license was not eligible for transfer, the order is reversed and you are refunded. Cases of legitimate manufacturer policy changes after a clean transfer are handled case by case during dispute review.

Are there extra fees beyond the listed price?

Accepted Answer

Buyers pay only the listed price on PluginXchange, with no buyer-side marketplace fee. The exception is iLok-licensed products: PACE Anti-Piracy charges a per-license iLok transfer fee of $25 USD per license, capped at $50 USD per batch, paid by the buyer inside the iLok License Manager. This fee is shown clearly before checkout.

Can I get a refund if the transfer fails?

Yes. If the seller cannot complete the transfer, or the license does not arrive in your account in working order, open a dispute. Funds are held in escrow until you confirm receipt, so refunds for failed transfers are straightforward.

Which licenses can I list?

Accepted Answer

Perpetual licenses for plugins from manufacturers that explicitly permit owner-to-owner transfer. Subscriptions, education licenses, NFR copies and bundles that the manufacturer marks non-transferable are not allowed. Confirm the policy with the manufacturer before listing.

How much do I actually receive after fees?

PluginXchange charges a flat 7% marketplace fee on the sale price, deducted from the seller payout. PayPal payout fees may apply on top depending on your country. The payout preview on the listing form shows the net amount before you publish.

What proof of ownership do I need to provide?

A screenshot of the license inside your manufacturer or iLok account showing the plugin name, license type and your account email. For some manufacturers, the original purchase invoice is also requested. Proof is shared privately with PluginXchange, not displayed publicly.

What if a buyer claims they didn't receive the license?

Accepted Answer

The order audit log records every step. If the manufacturer or iLok confirms the transfer, you are protected. If the transfer cannot be verified, the order is reviewed by an admin and funds are paused until the issue is resolved.

How and when do I get paid out?

Accepted Answer

Payouts are released via PayPal after the buyer confirms receipt of the license, or automatically after the confirmation window expires with no dispute. Most sellers see funds within 1 to 3 business days after release.

Can I list a Waves account with multiple plugins?

Accepted Answer

Waves transfers are per-plugin and require both Waves accounts. You can list individual Waves plugins, with the per-plugin Waves transfer fee disclosed in the listing. Bulk-account sales are not supported because Waves does not support bulk account ownership transfer.

Can I list subscription plugins?

Accepted Answer

No. Subscriptions remain tied to the original account and are not legally transferable. Only perpetual licenses from transfer-permitting manufacturers may be listed.

What's the dispute process?

Accepted Answer

Either party can open a dispute from the order page before payout is released. The order is paused, both parties submit evidence, and an admin reviews the audit log, screenshots and manufacturer confirmation. The outcome is either release of payout to the seller, or refund to the buyer.

Who pays the iLok transfer fee?

Accepted Answer

The buyer pays the iLok transfer fee directly to PACE Anti-Piracy inside the iLok License Manager. PluginXchange does not collect this fee. The fee is $25 USD per license with a $50 USD cap per batch transfer, and is shown before checkout.

Is the platform handling VAT?

Accepted Answer

PluginXchange is in early launch and is not yet VAT-registered. Listed prices are inclusive of any taxes the seller is responsible for in their own jurisdiction. As the platform grows, VAT handling will be revisited and updated here.
